Friend Manual interface concept showing a social card, social battery, activity preferences and friend cards

Friend Manual / Social tools & playful self-observation

A collection of interactive tools for noticing how you experience social life, and helping friends understand you.

The project

Friend Manual brings together the Friend Manual test, ASD Bingo and ADHD Bingo. Each uses everyday experiences as a starting point for talking about social preferences and differences.

The test plays with the gap between what other people see and what is happening internally: appearing comfortable in a conversation can feel very different from actually feeling at ease.

The Friend Manual test

Ten questions follow familiar situations: an unexpected guest at dinner, indirect hints that a visit is ending, a spontaneous invitation and a change of plans. The result turns your answers into a shareable friend manual, with practical notes on how to communicate and spend time together.

Interactive web tools

How friends can get to know you

The manual describes social battery, predictability, environment, familiarity, decoding, masking and adaptability. It offers a playful way to explain what helps you feel comfortable, how you read a situation and when you might need time to recharge.

ASD Bingo & ADHD Bingo

Two interactive 25-cell Bingo cards invite you to select experiences that feel familiar. A row, column or diagonal of five makes a Bingo; the result can be saved as a shareable image.

These are tools for entertainment and self-observation, not diagnostic or screening tests. More selections or Bingo lines do not indicate the presence or degree of ASD or ADHD.

Social app prototype

Alongside the tests and Bingo tools, Friend Manual includes a social app prototype: a personal social card, social battery, activity preferences and a view of who is around.

The cover is an interface concept exploring this direction. The screenshot below documents the actual Beta v6 prototype. The public test link leads to the Friend Manual questionnaire.
